HOLYMAN

Patrick Foley's Holyman project began as a breathing exercise to avoid hand tension while playing the guitar. Practicing simple, repetitive and -- most importantly -- very long pieces, Patrick reached new levels of stamina and focus and it became clear that this music should be performed. Informed more by ambient electronic than by classical or jazz guitar, at a club or a traditional music venue the audience might feel compelled too pay too much attention to these meditative pieces. Only when blending into the background, allowing listeners to absorb it subconsciously, can the music's true texture and emotions be felt.
